Does anyone use Insight broadband? I'm getting to switch over to braodband internet from dial-up. Bestbuy has a promotion that if i go thru them to buy Insight i will get the 1st month for $19.99 plus a $60 rebate for buying a $60 modem. BUT when i was checking out, it states that non-Insight customers will be charged an extra $10/mo. Has anyone heard or seen this? Thats kinda shitty if they do that and wont get my business. thanks

I'm going to move this to the Consumer's Opinion forum for you.

Nothing about Insight. I notcied that SBC/Yahoo is now available in my area. It wasnt last month. I enter my number on the website and says its available then asks for me to enter information to purchase for $27/mo with free modem and starter kit. I called SBC directly to see and their computer shows its NOT available. The rep said its not avail. in my area then went to say that maybe the DSL slots are full and its a matter of time before a customer drops and i can take that spot. BUT if the spots are filled in my area wouldnt that mean the bandwidth my be slow since so many people are using it in my area? Do you have to have phone service to get DSL? cause i'm thinking about cancelling my home phone since i got a new cell. Wonder what would happen if i signed up online sicne the rep said its not avail. in my area???????

yes you need a phone line to get DSL, thats how it comes into your home. how about a cable modem? comcast has some deals $20 for 6 months.

The only cable providers are Insight and Sigecom. No Comcast in my area. Both are $39/mo. May just go with Insight since i can get a $60 rebate on a modem.
