using Outlook Express 6

when i reciece an email with attachments, they are greyed out so i can't open 'em, i can only see that there are attachments, and i can read the name, but I cannot open 'em.
even with NAV disabled, and all email protection disabled.

Have you tried going into

tools > options >security and unchecking the box do not allow attachments

yup as jet_pilot said- when installed outlook (&express) default to not allowing attachments to be opened
