bobfisher Nov 25, 2003, 06:58 PM I've just had to reformat my computer and am now running win 98se, my computer has not recognised my graphics card, I have no drivers for it and don't know what it is as I have inherited the computer. Can I find out what card it is or is there another solution.
Many thanks
Virgin San Nov 25, 2003, 08:48 PM bob ...
You can find out the make of the card ... open the machine and have a look at the card, you may even need to take it out. Check out all the labels that are on it, if you are very lucky there might be a label on it somewhere giving its model number or some other information giving card type.
If this is not the case you should see a label with an "FCC" logo on it and a number (the fcc number ...). Write down this information and punch it into the fcc database (http://www.fcc.gov/oet/fccid/) and you should get the required result :)
If you don't manage to find it post up any numbers you do recover from the card so we can help further.
lazymaze Nov 25, 2003, 09:25 PM get all the numbers from the card and write them, and search the net

I hope you didn't open up the hard drive m8 ;) - but i know what you mean ...
It sounds like your motherboard has onboard graphics then (just check where the monitor plugs into the case, if its not a card then it must be direct to the mobo ?) - in which case the drivers should be on a disk that comes with your motherboard.
If you can establish that it is onboard graphics, and you find you still don't have the disk - you can still follow the above (fcc) procedure to find out the make of your board and download the relevant drivers from the mobo manufacturers website.
I take it that windows is loading ok but you just have crappy graphics at the mo and device manager is ! right?

bobfisher Dec 02, 2003, 10:33 AM Thanks for the help up to now guys, the drivers for my motherboard are available from the link below but I haven't a clue which ones I need (I'm running Win 98se)
http://www.bona.com.tw:8888/download/730_driver.htm
Virgin San Dec 02, 2003, 04:42 PM ??? I thought you wanted graphics card drivers??? Is the graphics built in to the motherboard or is it an add on graphics card (you can tell by where the monitor is plugged in since you don't seem familiar with the innards!)
EDIT: Well now that i look at your link ... you'll need one of the sis_vga drivers - you simply need to pick the one from the list which relates to your Operating System (OS) ...
eieman Dec 03, 2003, 03:10 PM sorry m8 for jumping on ure post but im having the exact same problem i installed a program called aida 32 not sure wot it was supposed do but it gave me a link to intels web site now im wondering if any body can help me i have got this from the comp intel i752 is this wot im looking for ?
Insomniac Dec 03, 2003, 10:36 PM bobfisher and eieman, download AIDA32 (http://www.aida32.hu/aida-download.php?bit=32).
In the Explorer like treeview, look under Computer, and then summary and under display it will give you the details.
