Means: Greenwich Mean Time = GMT minus 5 hours, so the effective time would be: 12:22:32 or 00:22:32 pm

So how do i figure out from what country an email is coming from, if i dont know where its from like i knew the person was from az. by the GMT? Is there a chart that plots the areas or what?

Here (http://www.worldtimezone.com/), you might find this world time zones map useful ;)
The 17:22-5:00 means your server received it at 17.22 your time, and that your time is -5 hours relative to GMT (which is the worldwide time standard if you like).
Often the last part of the address will tell you what country the message originates from (if not a .com) - but if you are really curious you can look into the message properties, find out the server that it was sent from and track down the location of the server. Why you would want to do that is another matter altogether :)

when you say location of the server , do you mean the IP Address?
