I have upgraded a bigger HD on xbox and I am planning to reuse the 60GB WD hard drive that was in xbox on my PC. My question is do I need to prepare the hard drive to be usable on PC.

yes, the hard drive will need to be unlocked and zero'd clean. there's a tut or two on xbox-scene.com (sorry i don't know the specifics) but it's a simple process i know.

The drive doesn't need zero'ed. The tutorial on Xbox-Scene does tell you everything you need to know and it's very easy!
