Hey guys, ive just got my Liteon DVD-RW +/- 4x and am using BulkPaq and Datawrite media.

I have tried backing up 3 of my original dvds but firstly I had to compress em with dvd shrink, i did this fine and then went to nero.

From here I chose DVD VIDEO, type the title in and then select the files that have just been compressed and ive put them in the video_ts folder.

They burn at 4x and then I try and play them on the 2 dvd players that I have and they just dont read em!

Now I know it cud be that the dvd player wont read the media i am using but I have got other dvdr films off other people on BulkPaq/Datawrite media and they play fine!!??

Can anyone help me as I dont know what I am doing wrong?

Cheers:beer:

Check the dvd, make sure the VIDEO_TS folder in in caps, older versions of nero used to put it in lower case, causing compatability problems with some players. I believe nero has other issues too.

Your best bet would be to try a direct copy of a dvdr you currently have using dvd decrypters iso read and iso write mode.

IMO it's more likely to be your choice of media.

Bulkpaq & Datawrite have a very poor reliability factor and normally use cheap dyes and grade b processes.
Grab yourself some Ritek G04's and your troubles will go away, as if by magic ;)

I have to agree, most of the time it's the media. Use better quality media. Second, make sure your Stand Alone DVD Player can read DVD-R as older mdel can't read DVD-R, only original.
Third, you can also try burning it at a lower speed, say 2x rather then 4x and see how it turn out.

I agree with the previous 2 posts that the media you are using is among the worst. Some quality (Unbranded Ritek/Ridata or Traxdata) Riteks would be a smart choice. Also did you label your folder video_ts or VIDEO_TS. I know it seems silly but it is recommended to label it in caps. Also did you put on an empty AUDIO_TS folder? A few DVD Players won't read a DVDR unless there is a blank AUDIO_TS folder on there. I know it seems dumb but seeing as how you are stuck with the Bulqpaq and Datawrite discs anyway, it wouldn't hurt to try.
