i started up dvd decrypter to rip a dvd and it asked me to select a region for my recorder and that i could only do that 5 times, not knowing what to select out of the diff. regions (mexico, hong kong etc.) i chose usa, is this what i would mostly be using? i am confused on what this "dvd region" is, any explantions to clarify things would be nice, thanx

Well only you can answer that one.

Do you live in the USA? If so then the answer is yes.

Most DVD's have region protection on them mainly to stop people buying cheaper imports and using them in another country. USA is region 1 for instance whilst Europe is region 2. However it is very easy to get around this whether using a "hack" on a standalone DVD player or removing region protection from the copy when backing up.
