I have a laptop HD in my Acard Duplicator. Lately it's been misbehaving so I thought I'd take it out and run scandisk and check for errors. Easiest way to hook up to a PC was via a USB2 pocket enclosure. All was going fine and the enclosure was recognsed no problem trouble is it just doesnt see the disc. I presume the duplicator has formatted it in a way that Win doesn't recognise or like.
Short of buying an IDE converter and putting it in my PC then DOS formatting it, can anyone think of an alternative please?
Cheers
Dan

What version of windows are you using? no matter how the drive is formatted it should still appear as a drive to format under say disk management in XP

I don't use it, but if they are using XP, then doesn't it need USB 2 drivers to function properly.
Danman, please post back with your operating system.

Hi again,, been on the pop so have been away from the comp for a day.
Operating system is Win XP Pro with sevice pack 1.
No drivers were needed and the enclosure was spotted and initialised. XP reported that the hardware was ready to use, but no drive was visible. I have many discs on this system including a Firewire/USB2 external enclosure with A06 a USB2 pocket drive with a IBM 1 Gig microdrive out of my digicam. A 256 mb USB 2 pen drive. All external and all function fine... just this laptop in enclosre that doesnt show.??
Thanks for your time so far :-)

I hope you know that stuff has a lot of sugar and preservatives.
I still think your problem is a driver issue.
Have a look at THIS THREAD (http://www.cdrom-guide.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=250266), and also this M$ SUPPORT (http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/hwdev/bus/usb/default.mspx) link.

Surely if he's using SP1 then there shouldn't be a problem with drivers?
Danman, so nothing appears under disk management? I'm not saying this is the problem but there are times where a drive doesn't automatically appear under a drive letter but all drives will appear (or have so for me) under disk management
