just got a camera and it has a MMC/SD card slot whats the difference or are they the same, which one am i best going for (there more or less the same price)

Secure digital has a protection slider like a floppy, although most cameras have protection in the software. This is still desirable if you ever use SD in another device that does not. Also, SD has better physical protection in the design and also has faster transfer speeds. If you have the choice, SD is preferable.
