Right,
I have both a PS2 and a PSX.
I want to chip my PS2, but to start off I am going to do it to my PSX so if I go wrong its not costly.
I have a PSX 5552, I am going to get the Base Mod Chip (think thats right), I am in the UK (PAL)
Is their anything I should know before installing the chip? etc
---
Also what is the best mod chip for PS2, as I will proberly get both at same time. As their is a discount.
=
Also what is the best CD/DVD re-writer to use, and best cd's to use?
Cheers

I really don't see any point in chiping your PS1 cause its too easy. Chipping a PS2 is much different.
The best PS2 chip is the Messiah2, its really hard to install.
The best CD/DVD writer is the Pioneer A06/106

ok, Thats good as I can get a 'Pioneer 4x DVD DUAL R/RW IDE BURNER' for £73.45
But what are the best Cd's/dvd's to use? I was informed that the best to use for both are: Verbatim (For PS Copying 100% error proof)

the reason I want to chip my PSX is because my little bro uses it, and I watch him spend aobut £4/10+ on a game. I hate shops that over price out of date software, so I thought I would chip that first then get my PS2 done.... (His xmas present)

It's the dye on the disc that matters and not the brand of the disc. The problem with Verbatim is that some of thier batches of discs (DVDRs anyway) are made with inferrior dye and there is no way of telling without opening up the pack. Try Ritek as they make thier own dye and it is high quality (Verbatim uses them on some of thier batches of discs). Just steer clear of the so-called Riteks bearing the Bulqpaq or Datawrite lables as they are cheap overprints or B-Grade quality dye. Unbranded Ritek/Ridata or Traxdata would be my recommendations. For CD-Rs use any disc that carries a light blue dye on the writing surface. ;)

listen to jester about the media and jaice about the chip.
chipping a ps1 is not even close to a ps2. ps1 you dont even have to flip the board for any model. not too mention you seriously can install ANY ps1 modchip in 5 minutes if the chip was made after 1997 (pre-1997 chips are harder and usually 11wires, but you wont find them for sale anywhere today)

I am.
Cheers for the help.
I am still going to chip my PSX so my little bro can have it.
I am going to order 'Messiah 2 PRO' from the same site.
The reason I dont want one of those disk swap things is because its a pain in the a**
Cheers
