alright, i know it sounds weird but i have an xbox that i got off someone and i don't know what chip it has..

I used to have another xbox in the past and i could access some other screen (evolution i think) with menus etc.. The one i have now only lets me access MS menu..

Any ideas?

hi m8 hmmm not to sure how you would tell on the dashboard
i dont think you can
but i think it might be a enigma modchip
try a game that normal needs patching if the machine works its this make
as this chip does not need any patching in games
the other you can do is open up the xbox slowly and see if you can see anything
the other option is that it might not have a modchip inside just had its bois flashed over ;)

yes i actually think its an enigmah, I'll try running an unpatched game and see what happens too..

If its an enigmah, can i install EvolutionX dashboard or not? I basically want to install media player so I suspect i need EvoX to do that.??

yep evox, xbmp, and most other software will work fine with your chip.

why not open it up & look?

ok, so i tried to play unpatched games like amped2 & finding nemo but it didnt work.. So I am a bit confused now...
If i open the console will i be able to tell somehow by looking at the chip? does it have its name on?

And also can you tell me how i can install evox etc on it? thanks!

Yeah open it up take a look and then look at some webshops selling xbox chips and see it you have a match. I know most chips dont have the name on it. But i know my executer chip is red.
