How are you trying to play the DVD? Through the Microsoft dash with the remote or with DVD-X?

Evo-X isn't a DVD player.

Okay, basically you need to change the line towards the top of your evox.ini file that says something about DVDPlayer. I would check exactly what the line is called but, erm, I can't (LONG story). Then make sure that autoplay DVD's is on and whenever you put in a movie it will autostart the MS dash which will kick into DVD player mode.

I would be more specific as to what to do if I had a PC capable of accessing my Xbox (My own machine blew up, on my brothers at the moment). Once you get into the evox.ini it becomes fairly apparent what line I'm on about, it's near the top.

DVDPlayer = "e:\dvdx\default.xbe"

change to

DVDPlayer = "c:\xboxdash.xbe"

Of course if your xboxdash.xbe has been renamed for whatever reason, change it accordingly.

Well, my hunch is that your running an old Xecutor chip with a BIOS that will only boot a dash called xboxdash.xbe. In which case, your original dash will have been renamed.

You will need to see if you have either an xboxdash.xbe, an evoxdash.xbe or both in your C drive.

i have xbox dash.xbe
and a msxboxdash.xbe

How can i identify my mod chip

does this line in theini have to be set to yes

JumpToMsDash = No

Memphis

Right, the only way to identify your chip is to look at it.

However from what you've told me, I can see that it's an old chip as it's running an older BIOS that can only boot xboxdash.xbe. What you need to do is change all the lines at the top of the ini that say xboxdash.xbe to say msxboxdash.xbe. That 'should' then fire up the MS dash whenever you link to it.

Are these original dvds? Cause backup dvds won't play on the xbox no matter what you do because of the way they were written on the computer.

Memphis

Sorry handguy but that ain't true. I have many backup DVD's, authored by myself, that work in my Xbox.

Hell, backup DVD's even work in completely un-modded Xbox's, provided you have the remote of course.

cytochrome - No worries at all m8, that's why a lot of us are here. Glad your sorted.
