Ive got myself a Linksys Cable Modem. It has both Ethernet & USB. So my question is which should i be using? Ethernet or USB?

I know a few techs that install for the cable compaines that would laugh at the mere mention of the USB option.
However, I don't see much difference in the throughput speeds as the maximum bandwidth is usually capped by the cable company at the cable modem in any event.

Using the ethernet is supposed to use less cpu power then if you used the usb option.

USB produces higher pings and unstability. Not to mention you cant tweak the mtu, rwin and everything else.

Ethernet all the way uses less resources as DIABLO said.

Yup! Ethernet is far better. Tried with USB few days back and stability was at question. :(

my mate who lives 10 houses away from me used to use usb and get pings above what i was getting to the same place. since converting him over to ethernet the pings have dropped (based on playing counterstrike they have dropped by an average of 15ms to and average of 25ms)

I don't know how anyone can recommend USB.

It has so many problems with resources and drivers.

Not to mention the problem of networking with USB.
