I'm burning vob's from a secondary drive [7200rpm]
Nero speed test notes a read speed of x3.9 (cannot burn at x4),
when I burn, 5 out 10 disc fail with (Communication Failure) even @ x2.
Any help with what to do...dont know if any background prog' is interuppting Nero?

160 Mb RAM
WD 20 Gb HDD 5400 rpm Primary 0
WD 80Gb HDD 7200rpm Primary 1
Pioneer 106D Secondary 0
Ricoh 7083 (Incd) Secondary 1
Nero 6.3.0.2

So you are burning on the fly? Given your specs I would not recommend doing this. Try reading to the HD first and see what happens.

No I'm burning from HD after using DVDshrink

Still Fails

Same fault

Communication Failure

Ive Used 20 Shintaro x4 DVD-R and burnt about 9 coasters
Using TDK DVD-r x4, used 5 and burnt 3 coasters

nero seems a bit flaky with this ..i can burn data using nero, but if i do a dvd disc copy it always fails on finalising disc

get some better media not the cheap stuff.

Well he is using TDK and the last time I checked they were using Taiyo Yuden or Ritek dyes which are considered to be among the best. The Shintaro seem to be okay but they are not the greatest. Have you tried using another program like Recordnow Max?

yes tried recordnow dx failed at 80% jusy hung there no error message
time left indicator went from 5.00 to 36.00
hdd and burner lights switched of


can someone tell me the hardware requirements to burn a dvd

The manual or box has the requirements.

BTW, did you get some decent media?
