A friend of mine gave me a movie that he bought off of ebay the other day and it came in a DVD movie cover that looks just like you'd buy in the stores except it says it's in DVD-9 format. He couldn't play the thing on his DVD player so he gave it to me so I could play it in my DVD/SDVD player. It takes a little time to load but plays ok. My question is, is this a copy of a DVD movie? (it looks just like a DVD with the picture on the DVD, not a label but the pic is in the DVD)

I'm not up on DVD-9 really and wondered if all DVD-9 movies are copies or they are true originals? I've never really seen one and just wondered... thanks... :round:

All DVD-9s at this point are original discs as dual-layer burners won't hit stores for a few more months. However it is entirely possible that it could be some cheap knock-off from Asia. DVD9 simply means dual-layered and pretty much any DVD Player can read them. It isn't unheard of to have a DVD with factory defects though. All of the current burners are single layer burners
