I am asking this question for my dad who thinks it x consuming to surf this website so i have to do his dirty work. Anyway, he just bought a new computer with the dvd burner he would like to know which software is the best, he wants software that will burn the dvds as well as cds. He wanted me to go out and buy the Dvd x Copy Platinum but I wanted to post it to the forum first to see if it's worth paying $100 or so for it. It seems everyone recommends different software other then dvd x copy.

It is definitely NOT worth $100. If you are going to pay for software then I recommend picking up Pinnacle Instant Copy 8. It won't decrypt commercial DVDs but you can just pick up DVD Decrypter (which is a small legal freeware program) and run the movie through there first. You then open up the folder with Instant Copy 8 and it will take care of the rest for you. It also gives you more options for giving you the best possible quality on your DVD Backup (ie removing DVD-ROM features, foriegn language tracks) or he can simply leave everything as default and just select the high quality option and everything will turn out just as good (if not better) than DVD X COPY DVDs. I could be wrong but the last time I checked DVD X COPY Platinum wasn't capable of burning CDs but Pinnacle Instant Copy 8 will definitely burn CDs.

That and I just realized it will save him alot of money to go the IC8 route. $40 to D/L it and $50 to buy it. http://www.pinnaclesys.com/ProductPage_n.asp?Product_ID=1394&Langue_ID=7
