As stated, I have copied a video onto a DVD with my standalone DVD recorder and now I want to load it into my PC, edit it and make a menu and then put back onto DVD, can I rip to mpeg 2 so pinnacle will see it or what is the besy way

Your DvD shoudl already be in Mpeg 2 format??

What files do you have on your DvD?

There's no reason why you can't do the above. I've not used pinnacle but have used ulead.

All the files are VOB so I need to rip the Mpegs out so pinnacle can read them, its ripping the mpeg out of the vobs that it my problem

assume its dvd-r discs and not dvd+rw

rip your disc with smart ripper

*rip with separate ac3 and m2v

rename those 2 files to something like

moviename_ac3
movieman_m2v

start either spruceup or tmpg dvd author and click on the m2v file. it will automatically load the ac3. then do your menus.

if using ulead

doesnt read ac3 or m2v so i just copy the entire disc over and load that into ulead

start either spruceup

With SpruceUp, the files need the same name, i.e.

Movie.m2v
Movie.ac3

Or it won't pick up the audio.

Just tried tmpg author and got rid of the commercials, not a bad program but dissapointed that you cannot preview your project and the menu design is not as flexible as others, anyway only took 8 mins to put to my HD and I previewed it from there before burning, thanx to all
