will the ink fall off if i print on blank silver topped dvd media or do i need a printable surface my kids playing i dont want the ink flying off and ruining my dvd player or is it best to just buy the printable kind of dvd media

id say better safe than sorry
once cds are covered there normally just for writing on in permanent marker
get the printable kind to ensure there will be no harm done

I would definitely buy the ones with a printable surface then you don't have to deal with the whole issue of labels peeling, off center, ect. which can screw up the playback (or even in some cases ruin your drive/player).

Do not use Sliver tops for printing on.
The ink will not dry correctly, and will transfer onto everything that touches it. Also it is awful to get off your fingers and clothes.

Silver tops are fine, just make sure that you use a thermal printer, digital offset or screen printer.
Note that you may end up printing white on it anyway.
