The people who make the dyes on those discs need to come up with a new designation. POS just doesn't sound good for business. Although those discs seem to live up to thier name. Either way though, companies really need to be careful about throwing around the Ritek label.

Did your m8 find them any good? just curious lol, Just to add i emailed them regarding the discs and was told they were manufactured by postech (Mitsubishi Chemicals) and use the verbatim G04 dye currently in use on verbatim branded disks in the US, and not the G04 dye of ritek and are no way associated to ritek, I didnt know verbatim used a G04 dye, anyone confirm this?, Either way if they aint ritek i aint buying them, But if they are produced by mitsubishi chemicals surely the cant be too bad as verbatim, maxel etc are ok discs.

The computer fairs are supposed to flooded with them at the moment. there's also a branded version going under the name of "goallover" using the POSGO4 dye also. the funny thing is i've seen people saying they are really good for that price. personally i wouldn't touch them with a bargepole :) i'd rather stick to my real ritek GO4 discs for piece of mind.

Yep id rather stick to riteks too, But im just wondering if anyone has tried them out i done a search and found some posts about the goallover ones and everyones compairing them to apple media and that they are made by mitsubishi chemicals in the postech factory in germany the same factory that produces verbatim & apple media, theyre even supposed to write at 8x in the new NEC writer. Sounds good but are the discs any good thats the thing.

Anyone notice how the website has been changed to remove Ritek reference. I KNOW it said Ritek when I ordered but if the disks are NOT Ritek when they arrive tomorrow then that company are to expect a visit from an irate me... they happen to be based very near to my work....

So much for the nice lady saying "we don't do counter sales" - well they can expect a "counter visit" on Tuesday!

As far as I am concerned they have misled me and that is causing me a financial loss if I have to order Riteks from SVP so unless they are offering to honour a Ritek G04 dye disk for the price I paid then they are causing me to suffer damages (actual loss) for which a legal claim can be made.

I'll report how helpful they are. I know I should have just stuck to SVP....:round:

one thing ive noticed is that these "ritek G04" dye disks, are not recommended for use with NEC1300a.

now if its one thing i know is that on the NEC1300a drive, any ritek G04 disk works like a beauty. in fact out of all the disks, it is this disk that i found has worked best.

its a shame that some companies falsely advertise.

ps. the POS = Piece Of **** reference, cracked me up lol

Had a chat to the people at GradeA

They assure me that there was never any intention to mislead. Apparently the POS disks do use G04 dye but different factory. They asked how I suggested to best fix the problem and I said put the MediaID code info on the website which they will now do.

The lady was most apologetic and helpful. I would suggest that anyone who feels they have been misled calls them but please don't be silly and order the disks and then claim to have been mislead as I doubt they would look kindly.

I also suggested that they concentrate their efforts on a cheap Ritek G04 disk as that would get them plenty of sales. I think they might :round:

They seem nice people and it seems a genuine mistake to me. I'm reasonably local so it will be easy for me to get sorted out.

Give them a chance...

The dye is NOT ritek go4,its lighter in colour. And as a retailer they should have checked them first before advertising them as ritek.

To clear up any confusion:

POSTech are NOTHING to do with Ritek, or Mitsubishi. They are an independent manufacturer in Taiwan, who a couple of years ago made CDR media similar to Princo and Gigastorage (ie they worked in early DVD players). You may remember "Sirius" media which was highly regarded, this was POSTech.

These discs are, however, not bad at all. In fact I would say that they are not far short of Ritek in terms of quality. POSTech want a large share of the market, from what I have read I don't think they are going to do a Princo and make inferior media.

These discs really need to be at the 60-65p mark, to undercut Ritek, but at that price they are a serious contender. They are certainly better than Princo -- I'd put them in a similar category to CMC's DVD-R output, which is generally pretty good.
