I went to supermediastore.com to perchase dvd-r's for the first time and i was going to purchase the matted silver ritek dvdrs but they are out of stock. Is there any difference between shiny silver and matted silver quality wise? Does anyone know another reliable web site that sells ritek dvdrs for a low price?

i also had the same problem today trying to buy from them.. i called them up and asked them what the difference was, and they said theres no difference... but then again they are the salespeople of their own product... so i'd also like an independent comment on this...

Rest easy folks. There is absolutely no difference between the two. Provided the dye is G04 and they come straight from Ritek then they are the exact same discs with a different top. Sometimes I end up with Unbranded Silvers and Sometimes I end up with the Ridata frosted tops, absolutely no difference between the two except that I like the writing surface on the frosted tops better. ;)

yea we know they are exactly the same on the bottom, but I've bought some cdrs that had cheap top silver without any frosted protection and they scratch sooo easy. Are these shiny silvers at least protected well? I remember back in the days where I bought those cheep cdrs that scratch off the minute you touch them!

I haven't found that to be the case on mine. I just prefer the frosted tops because fingerprints don't show up all over them and they are easier to write on.
