Well, if my Canon printer is any indication of how frugal Canons are with ink, then you could try taking a look at the Canon Faxphone B45 - about $85 USD. Typically, I go for Brothers when buying a fax though. Big difference though is whether you get a heavy duty machine or one of those POS tiny machines that are IMHO ... useless. :)

do u guys want a heavy duty machine? if so check out imagistics.com formerly pintey bowes international for facsimile equipment. i think they are great and they have mfp(multi function printers) or just straight fax machines. brothers are good though too, just go a few steps above the low range machines. if it is for a small to big company dont waste your money on a tiny machine unless you guys dont mind trashing them every so often. even when buying at office depot, office max, best buy, compusa, or ......... test them out especaily the adf just to see if it will take the paper and how quickly it prints incoming faxes. dont forget the memory capacity too. hope this helps

The PHILIPS fax machines are quite good. I used to have one and when the ink film ran out I used to wind it back up and use it again. It worked well :)

forgot to mention the paper ink type cartridges.
try to get something with a drum like a laser
printer. the majority of faxes if not all are laser printer these days. more expensive, but better in the long run.
