smeggin19 Jan 11, 2004, 01:01 PM What line do you want to go down, AMD or Intel?
pudknocker Jan 11, 2004, 03:58 PM intel mate she also wants to run 3 screens of it as she has seen one with 3 screens and she thinks it very nice
C0UGAR UK Jan 11, 2004, 04:35 PM The Abit IC7-G is a top class P4 board & I like the layout. I have fitted one of these for someone, the CPU socket is not surrounded by caps and they turned it 90o. The only way you can positively CPU future proof a motherboard is to buy a CPU half the size the motherboard will support, but by the time you want to upgrade CPU the it's technology will be out of date.

pudknocker Jan 11, 2004, 11:01 PM no mate not at all i dont see the point my self she seen a comp in a book like it and said thats what she wants but she will probly change her mind when i show her the price of them one more thing if she does get the 3 does the pic spread over the 3 screens or can you use them for diferent things
C0UGAR UK Jan 12, 2004, 09:51 AM Multi- screen display, best of luck, I had a go on a horizontal triple 18" LCD display at a show last year, drag & drop from screen to screen video wall, the driver software had built in intelligence so an application could be on any screen, or maximized across all screens, the res' was 1024X768, with the ammount of desktop shortcuts a screen gets cluttered with you would need a map or grid reference to find them, and as for games, 'kin 'ell. I know the triple display screen alone was over £1200. Tell you what, buy her one, if she does not like it I will do you a swap for my 19" trinitron, & I will throw in the wife & mother in law.

Agree, that is a great board, but to go one better is the Abit IC-7 MAX3
SOYO SY-P4I875P DRAGON 2 (Platinum Edition)This also is a good board, looks cool too.

LOl, not asknig much eh ;) Use the search function here in co-op, everyone of those has been discussed more than once in recent times :)
psibob84 Jan 14, 2004, 01:14 AM its is purely subjective and opinionated.
ask whats the best and you will get a million answers and still have no clue
pudknocker Jan 14, 2004, 02:05 AM ok thanks
Virgin San Jan 14, 2004, 02:27 AM As a final thought, once you've nailed down a rough idea of what you want, its really worth your while to spend a bit of time with google and looking for reviews on the various bits of hardware. You can get a lot of insight into how well things work together as well as the other things on the market from reviews - word of warning, read more than 1 on the same thing (some reviewers are crap, look for big sites like toms hardware) and try to keep in mind what you want the machine to do or you'll end up building a supercomputer!
