Hey guys just ordered my self a 5 port switch which i am mainly gonna use for a home network, but on the odd occasion will be hoping to use it for a bit of 4 xbox 16 man halo mayhem.

The problem is the majority of people i know have a unmodded xbox, and i'm not sure whether i need a static address or dhcp for when i'm connected to 3 other un modded xboxes.

also when playing xbox live does it matter whether i'm running dhcp or a static ip address?

thanks guys

Won't matter about the IP address. As soon as Halo loads, it will setup the IP and network settings itself.

Again, with Live it won't matter. As you will be loading Live without your chip on, and definatly not from EvoX, the Xbox itself will take care of the network setup.

ok thanks memphis- just one other thing with halo, in my noob days i tried doing a system link with a firend of mine who had an unmodded xbox and for what ever reason couldn't get it to work even after ripping his copy of halo (retail) to my hd and trying to rerun the game

I was thinking recently that at the time the video mode had been set to ntsc (didn't realise the guy who modded the xbox had put that on there at the time and when i did discover it had been set to ntsc) and his xbox being in the uk was pal, could this have been the reason i couldn't get it to work?

Yep, more than likely. If the video modes are different the game won't link.
