okay, I have the matrix programmer and have tried on 4 different computers to flash the chip. The program writes and verifies, but I get a flash of red light from the chip when powering on the xbox and the 3 on/offs and the red/green light. what gives? It overwrote or erased thecromwell bios. I do not get any lights on the chip except for in the scan phase when on the programmer and then it flashes red. What happened to the blue light? any way to flash it via dvd or cd-rw now or do i keep plugging away at getting to flash. The chip gets hot while it is flashing, but if you take it off the programmer and put it back on, it shows that there is nothing on it. This is driving me nuts. I flashed another chameleon about 3 weeks ago with the same bios that i am trying now. Did not pay attention to the lights last time as it took the first time. I have tried 2 new batteries out of the packaging....but nothing.....
Please help.....
Also, if i do not get the flash of the red light when i power it up, it stays solid red and goes to the MS bios.

if you have a red led, that means it was manufactured by easybuy2000 and NOT XODUS. i'd contact who you purchased it from and demand an exchange. the tell tale way of knowing is by the red led. a true, real chameleon will have a blue led. (and it actually works)
sorry bout your luck man, keep us posted on it.

I am trying to get this insatalled still. I have come to the conclusion that it is a bad adapter. I am waiting on an adapter that i ordered on the 8th and finally shipped on this past friday, so i hope to have it early this week. If it is not the adapter, I am going to try and get a RMA number to return it, and if that fails, I am not going to wait around, I will contact my cc and get my money back. Then I am guessing I will get a X2-lite....solderless? if they would just have the plain and simple matrix back. yes aligning it was a pain, but it was a no frills chip!
so unless you can suggest a different chip, i will try this and then go with the x2 lite....

on solderless (that i) recommend is the chameleon. and if you have a red led on the chip, then it's faulty itself. not the adapter. also check to see if the dip switches on the chip are one black box with 4 switches. if it's 2 black boxes with 2 switches in each box, then those are from matrix stock and FOR SURE faulty and built by easybuy2k.
but if you want another chip, then x2 would be the obvious choice but solderless lacks something to be desired. just solder the sucker in, it's not hard and the stability can't be matched

thanks for the reply.... It does have the 2 black boxes on it. I am I totally screwed or is there something that i can do to get it to work? the only reason that i was saying the adaptor was because it was missing a pogo pin on the bottom.

oh okay.... i get it if it was a joke, i also get it otherwise. I tested it with a meter and it shows that all the pins besides the one that is missing is grounded and working. so now i wait!
thanks again
