I bought it from a car boot sale and was assured that it worked but when i got it home all it did was load up the XB green logo and click like mad. It won't boot up any DVD original games and if you boot up without a game it brings up error screen with code 7 in the corner.
I knew the HD was buggered as you never forget the sound it makes after you have lost gigs worth of data on ure Pc so now what do I do? From what I have read on here I have a V1.4 Xb and I possibley need to install a chip that allows HD Swap? If I install a modchip with hd swap support will it allow me to fit another drive in my X-box even tho though the original HD is dead? Lastly which is the cheapest mod chip that I could use?
Thanx In advance

I would put a chip in there. Most likely a soderless chip so you can take it back out if you dont need it anymore. Once the chip is in you can change to a new harddrive. They have info on xbox-scene.com on how to do this and also Unlocking and Locking the hdd's. There are even post like that on here so do a lil searching you will find the answers. Let us know your success.

the alladin chip is probably the cheapest. you can get them for $8 each. the install is easy. I think its 11 wires to solder in. You will then be able to put a larger HDD in. But I would get get Slayer Auto Installer to build the new HDD for you. It does the whole thin is a few quick steps.

Or if you don't want to be bothered then sell this xbox and buy a brand new one, or you can send it out to have someone do all the work described above.

If you do decide to sell it let me know. I will be interested in buying it.
