Well, dual-format is overrated IMHO. DVD-R will cover you for everything and DVD+R will also once the new PS2s arrive. The next aspect to consider is speed. Personally, I think 4x is plenty fast enough atm, especially considering the faster the disc's rated speed, the mroe blanks will cost you. Pioneer gets my vote as a good manufacturer - very happy with my DVR-105. If you want the dual-format just to have it, 106 is a good bet.

U should say what computer & operating system its for otherwise no can answer. 106 should be fine.

Since at least 90% or more of members will agree on the Pioneer 106, I think the only thing left to do is find a good place to buy it. Madkid88 is located in the UK. Does SVP still have any 106's in stock?

no stock at svp but for the extra cash (about £10) the NEC ND2500 might be worth a look

I would still go for the 106 simply since it has been around for a while and they have had a chance to work out the bugs. There is also quite a bit of help available for the 106. The time savings between 8x and 4x is only 7-8 minutes MAX and 8x media costs twice the price of quality 4x media. ;)

You might want to take a look at Optorite DD0401. It burns to both + & - with out a problem.:D It burns 4x + media @ 8x with out a problem. Also Optorite is coming out with a firmware to burn - @ 8x. Nice drive its worth a look. Good luck :hdspin: :round: :hdspin:
