Hi guys and gals,

I am running a AMD 2100 and am using the stock/ retail fan and heatsink with it.

I wanted to see if you guys thought it was running a little or a lot hot.

I cleaned out the heatsink the other day and it dropped it down to about
150 F. Before I cleaned it, it was around 173 F at times.

If it is running too hot, what are some recommendations from you all??

I am not planning on overclocking it and would like to keep it relatively quiet.

Thanks all

Just did a restart after running DVD Shrink and here are the temps from the bios:

68.5 c and 155 f

150 (and even 173) are well within recommended operating temps, if you aren't having any performance problems with the pc I would just leave it alone.

IMO and not disagreeing with San, but for an idle temp that is far too high for my liking, my Barton 3200 with 92mm fan on a Thermalright is about 30 c @5V, and all case fans extracting @5V. Last week I replaced 3 80mm and the 92mm on the CPU with Delta 80mm's as a mate bet me my CPU was no cooler than his, well it payed for the fans. You cannot just connect these, mobo, PSU, custom air intake & connection can be crucial, there is no point really, just have odd mad custom sesions.

I agree m8 it is high, just not anything to get in a tizz about :)

Some max temp stats here (http://www.cpuscorecard.com/cpuprices/aaxp.htm) if you are interested.

I think the important thing to ask would be what made you start looking at the temp? Curiosity or a problem with your puter?

To help bring the temp down, add some artic silver 3 thermal compound to the processor, Add some fans.

As San said it is within the temp range, but I would rather be running cooler.

Every once in awhile, I would get the Hardware Monitor Error, so I checked the temp and found it to be the 173 F.

So, I cleaned off the heatsink and fan and that lowered it down to 150 F.

I was just wanting some opinions of cooling setups for my chip to bring it down even further. Not wanting to do anything extreme like water cooling, just some different types of fan/heatsink combos.

Also, I was wanting some idea of what average temps would be.

Here is my fan setup:

I have 2 fans that came with my Lian Li case pulling air in over my dual hard drives in the front, a fan pushing air out below my power supply(came with case also) and my Antec 430w has a fan on the bottom pulling air up and of course is blowing air out the back.
