I just now was able to get into my xbox harddrive with ftp'ing, i was wandering what is the best streaming server to run? and is there a tutorial on how to set it up?

may or may not be helpful but xbmc and some emulators now have samba which essentially lets you share your pc's shared folders- may be easier- i'm just waiting on a network switch and intend to hook it up and use samba- will report my findings when its done
