right, i'm not too bright about chipped xboxs so please be patient.

i have an xbox chipped with an xecuter2, got true crime the other day and can't get it to work, emailed the guy and he told me to have the latest bios, and make sure my clock isn't set at default.

i got the xbox about 14 months ago and so i doubt if my bios is the latest one, when i go into evox dashboard and look at my settings it says bios version - unknown, the kernel version is 1.00.4973.01 if that makes any sense to anybody? whats the easiest way to flash your bios? do i need to link my xbox to the pc? hopefully not cos i have nothing that i can do that with

as for the clock i can't understand how that would make a difference??? but heres what mine says anyway:

jump to ms dash - no
jump if no link - yes
24 hour - yes
swapdate - no
sntp server 216.244.192.3

i know yous guys all know your stuff so hopefully somebody can give me a bit of an education on this,

cheers,
pcp:beer:

If you don't know what bios you have then why not just upgrade it anyways? The newest bios 4980 I believe came out just a month or two ago.

Or if you don't want to mess with the bios you can always just patch the game if you have a dvd burner or a upgraded hdd.

4980 just came out a few days ago
as for the bios, an upgrade can never hurt anything. but you're looking at the wrong 'clock' setting. the guy was referring to the system clock that you set in the ms dash. if it's got a funky day like 8901 instead of 2004 then alot of games will not work.

Get the bios from #xbins and edit your evox.ini file to enable the "flash bios" screen.

just cuz you set the clock last week doesn't mean it's fine now. double check it.

You'll need to link to the XBOX to upload the bios I believe.

Unless you get a GENUINE Slayer HDD Disc. The newest one has flashing capabilities with both the new M7 and 4980 bios.
