i heard today that sometime in march 9gb dvd media was coming out now the reason why i am posting this is because i like many others are not so up on dvd burning if what i heard was true will burners still be able to use this media or will new burners have to be purchased because i was going to purchase one on friday an nec and i am just looking for a few words from the wise ones

You will most probably need a duel layer writer, and before ... comes here, NEC make perfectly good dvd drives

It won't be 9GB media. It will be 8.4 or 8.5GB media. But anyways those will be the dual-layered discs and you will need a spendy dual-layer writer (when they come out a little later this year) to burn them. Not unless that firmware rumor for the Pioneer 106 is true. ;) Once (and if) that happens though you better buy one QUICK!!!!!
