Right ive made up my mind, im going to attempt to install Slayers Evox 2.5 Final which im downloading right now.

Im only doing it for 1 reason to play Rugby League from the HD and maybe attempt to change a few of the graphics files as I go along.

After reading tons of stuff about evox and backing up etc I have the folowing questions that I would be very grateful if some one could answer along with any warnings they could give me about stuff I may not have mentioned.

1. What do I need to know about my retail xbox before starting ? Version etc ? Where do I find this ?

2. Will all games run from HD and will I fit a whole game on just the standard HD ?

3. Is Slayer the best way to go ?

4. People keep saying back up the HD first. How do I do this before installing Slayers Evox ? Is it an option on the menu before actually installing Evox ?

5. It said something about make sure you can boot into MS dash after installing. Why would you need to do that and what happens if it wont boot ?

6. What are all the different partitions of the xbox hard drive ? Does evox make them ?

P.S I have the executer 2 modchip with no switch no xbox live or anything like that.

Any advice or pointers to guides would be appreciated. It just seems you read one thing and then read the exact opposite somewhere else. :)

1. not necessary because of your chip, your set on that.
2.Yes games will run off HDD but you have to point the dash to find the game, don't think you can fit more than 1 game on the stock HDD.
3.It's easy enough if you don't know how to do it.
4.You have a chip, which should allow you to ftp to your xbox, you need to ftp into your xbox and copy the c&e drives to your pc HDD.
5.So you can add custom soundtracks and manage your memory and adjust the clock.
6.c: is where all the crucial information such as dash and fonts.
e: is your memory drive, where all your game saves and custom soundtracks end up.
xyz:Cache memory emptied and used up everytime you turn the machine on. Slayers will alow you to partition a new HDD to add F: which would be extar storage. Other than that it doesn't touch the original file structure.

A little crunked so let me see if I can answer a few or all of these...

1. Unless you have a TSOP mod version shouldn't be a problem. If your XBOX is TSOP flashed then PLEASE REMEMBER THIS (SLAYER INSTALLTION WILL WARN YOU ALSO) v1.0-1.2 XBOX uses a 1MB BIOS FILE, v1.3-1.5 uses a 256K BIOS FILE. If you are downloading the latest SLAYER INSTALLTION the BIOS table shoud be updated. Flash with appoporate file.

2. Games will run off HDD. Depending on size you can fit as many as that partition hold. I believe Slayer install games on "E:/Games/" directory, if not it would be "F:". You can check HDD size in Evox.

3. Slayer worked great for me. Make sure its not the fake one floating around. The fake one formats your HDD when you chose any options. Check XBOX-SCENE for more info concerning this matter.

4. When you boot up with the Slayer disc FTP to your XBOX (tutorial found on XBOX-SCENE). Copy your "C:" drive and all your game saves "E:" or "F:" drive on your computer incase something goes wrong. The Microsoft Dash is _VERY_ important. You can rip music, change setting such as time, and also browse game saves. SOmetimes it gets deleted thats why you back it up.

5. Refer to #4.

6. Difference is used by XBOX, your "C:" drive your main drive, the rest is for storage- games, emulators, gamesaves, music, etc. The rest for cache when your playing a game tempoary files get stored there and stuff- you know so the game can go a little smoother.

7. wow thats it.....

Hope that helps. Refer to XBOX-SCENE for more info. Good Luck!
