oxocubeman Jan 21, 2004, 03:41 AM WMP plays karaoke files?? Yes it does with this plug in https://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=89149 I am playing a mp3+g file as we speak. ALL credit goes to Holler not me, I am just updating this forum. Plays bin files as well apparently, not tried that yet but a remarkable discovery, eh? Hail Holler again.
johnnapig Jan 21, 2004, 05:13 AM Great find!!
even more exciting it the fact that this will play midi+g karaoke files as well as mp3+g, wma+g.
So for those REALLY obscure songs (or for anyone who works in foreign language countries) we can use midi files for the tracks that are hard to get. Yeah, the sounds not great, but it's better than having none.
And it means, for me, that there will be not more 'Den Pao Poothena' every night of the year (the only Greek song anybody ever seems to sing)
Torby Jan 21, 2004, 06:14 AM Nice one oxo...just off to download now....
Torby Jan 21, 2004, 06:22 AM Downloaded....ok how do you get it to run? Cant find anything on the release notes.
Torby Jan 21, 2004, 06:32 AM Tried tweaking settings I'm using media player 9....any suggestions?
johnnapig Jan 21, 2004, 07:56 AM just double click the .cdg file attached to the mp3 and it'll play. or drag and drop the .cdg file into WMP
runs like a dream (though I'll still probably use winamp as you can feed this out to another telly)
oxocubeman Jan 21, 2004, 09:42 AM Yes, thats all you do, use the cdg file and make up a playlist and away you go. It has crashed on me only once since last night when I got the hold of it. Agree with johnnapig, I will still keep Winamp until I get used to WMP but, as I said, it plays tracks that Winamp won't for some strange reason and also the broken grapkics on some discs are not as fragmented with WMP, try it and see. on the other hand WMP will play the dat files of the race discs that winamp5 won't play.
vinniedub Jan 21, 2004, 09:42 AM .bin files played no problemo. cheers oxo and holler
Torby Jan 21, 2004, 12:15 PM yehaw.............got it going....i was dragging the audio bit over !!!!
steve54 Jan 21, 2004, 04:43 PM well done chaps.
gram77ok Jan 21, 2004, 10:56 PM hey nice one.........has anyone found a decent zipped up player yet....or am i being too greedy ???lol..
Torby Jan 22, 2004, 03:25 AM Think it was mentioned on the forums a while back...."dot and lilly's" or "Sax and dolly's "something like that....never got the link to work though
tommyd2 Jan 22, 2004, 03:52 AM As you may or may not know those clever xbox hackers have so you can play media player on an xbox. Dont know if this update will work with it but it could be one of the first steps to a portablish cheapish mp3g player. And as you can know upgrade the hard disks in them you could carry aroung 160gb of mp3g in a little xbox for around the £200 mark.
johnnapig Jan 22, 2004, 05:12 AM oh my word - what a cracking idea, tommyd2. You can get modded xbox's all over the place, cheifly on BST.
Anyone know if XBox's have dual output? (ie, you can prep up on one screen whilst outputting the cdg window to another?)
johnnapig Jan 22, 2004, 05:14 AM oh, and it's sax n dottys show hoster, or something like that
oxocubeman Jan 22, 2004, 05:40 AM Sax and dottys show hoster is what plays zipped up mp3+g files, works well and worth the money for the registration code but zipping files can degrade them. Will have a look into the Xbox route and its specs but the laptop or even a cube pc might be better.
karaoke_rob Jan 22, 2004, 08:36 AM What a great find, thanx peeps.
I have now set my mp3 files to open with winamp and the cdg files to open with win media so I get the easy choice.
Thanx again, best post for a long time.
regards
Rob
mrwhippy Jan 22, 2004, 10:30 AM cheers oxo just downloaded it and works a treat:D
DazJilly Jan 22, 2004, 01:55 PM fantastic find oxo - will still use winamp though.
lofficer Feb 18, 2005, 03:01 PM i just down loaded the plug in from the site, question what version windows player do you need and where do you install the download file thank you
charles
Rockshocker Mar 15, 2005, 05:25 AM Awesome find, for some reason I get an error with the winamp plugin, but Windows Media Player 10 works flawlessly, just pop in a cdg and it starts playing without a hitch!!!
