If the DVD is less than 4.37gb then yes you can copy a dvd to a dvd, but you will need to use a decrypting program to get the files from the original to your HDD, so you can burn them from there.

You dont have to create an image, but DVD Decrypter in ISO/Read will copy and create a decrypted image on your HDD .... and ISO/Write will burn it to a blank dvdr. This is probably the simplest/easiest method.

If however the DVD is larger than 4.37gb, you will need a different program to decrypt and compress the files. DVD Shrink (freeware) is a good program to do this and ...... you will need a seperate burning program, such as Nero or RNM to burn the compressed files..

Burning on the fly really isn't recommended unless your PC has good specs. Even so the only time I would ever even attempt to burn on the fly is if I was doing DVD-R to DVD-R. Either way though, most movies are DVD9 and will have to be decrypted, ripped, compressed, ect. before being burnt to disc so in most cases you will still have to read to the HD first.

Sorry .... I read the post as though he was trying to copy a DVD as opposed to a dvdr/copy
