I have had a Sony DVD writer for ALMOST a year now, recently it has started making strange 'kicking' noises when reading a disk. When I put a disk in (blank or otherwise) it will make areound 4 or 5 clicking sounds.

I put my hand on the front of the drive and I can feel it each time.

Is this something to be concerned about?

I just have enough time to return it if so, BUT I have altered the firmware since I had it and I'm concerned they wouldn't take it back.

Any info?
