i have a 105 and its been working fine
but now i get a power calibration error at 4X i am using the same discs as before and it seems ok at 2X its now about 14 months old could it be on its way out

Almost 100% certainly caused by media you are using.

You say the discs are the same but have they maybe switched brand of dye? Checkout the sticky in the "DVD media" forum and run a test on them to see.

i have actually burnt some of them at 4X and it was fine nothing had changed and suddenly its down to 2X

power calibration error usually means burner having problems communicating with the disc - what settings to burn at.

As said above, poor media or poor batch is usual cause.

Using hacked firmware will make this more frequent in a lot of cases

Yup ... agree with above .... try losing the Princos and grab some decent Ritek G04's.

had this wiv my 103 and it did it on ALL media eventually! COULD b the beginning of the end but hopefully just a media issue as stated above!

pce can mean you are going too fast, since you changed to 2x & its working then youre all set.
