Phil_806 Jan 27, 2004, 05:31 PM Steve... I had a couple of bad ones that Norton AV told me were there, but couldn`t erradicate!! so I had to download 2 patches from Microsoft. They were the welchworm and blasterworm that only affect XP. If anyone wants these patches, let me know and I`ll e-mail them.
johnnapig Jan 27, 2004, 05:44 PM this has been doing my head in

You can end up with a hundreed of these emails even if your PC is virus free - it's cloned the address for my website so i'm getting the virus emails (atachments all about 22k big) and the mailservers kicking the mail back to me because its infected!
Not a good time to be on a dial up account!! lol
steve54 Jan 27, 2004, 05:52 PM its doin mi ed in now.checking for emails and get at least 60 every time with the dodgy attachments.cant tell good mails from baduns.
steve54 Jan 27, 2004, 06:05 PM the mails av now stopped, must av ran its coarse.thank god.thought i was gonna get up in the morn and av about 3000000 mails.
sharonmcc Jan 27, 2004, 06:12 PM Wow aint reached me yet hope they don't.Well none that Norton has advised me off Yet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What addy are they being sent from Steve hun.So i know not to even look at them.
steve54 Jan 27, 2004, 07:14 PM if anyone has your email addy in their address book, and they have the virus, and they have then sent emails elsewhere, then the virus is just cloned again and again from address books.it could go on for a while.i have not personally got the virus but have had ,hit after hit on my email from these sources.its a bit annoying.dont know a good email from a badun.had loads that havnt been addressed to me personally, but used part of my email addy like the bit after the @.mind saying that, this is all it needs to send an email to you.
steve54 Jan 27, 2004, 07:19 PM oh no its started again.loads now bouncing back from the mail servers.
ELLEBEE Jan 28, 2004, 04:43 AM Just as a matter of interest !,
if you need to do a re-format in XP you can save every email by saving to a disc a file that is within the directory:
C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook\outlook.pst
This file contains everything, contacts, emails recieved ,sent ,etc, etc.
(That is the directory mine is in ), yours will be in much the same location.
Write this file to a CD and you will have a record of your OUTLOOK information.
I am running OFFICE XP , if you are running standard Outlook you can still find the file by doing a search, write down its directory location and when you have re-done your install and got back on the Net with all your Programs simply replace the new file with your old saved file and everything will be retured to what it was before your re-install.
It has worked for me for over 6 mths , so i see no reason why it should not for you guys !!
Sounds Steve as if you will need a 200 gb drive for yours !!!!!!!!!
When the Chips are down!!, ask for Fish?
wwrlfc Jan 29, 2004, 08:58 AM The only worms i've got are TAPE WORMS hanging out me ar@e!!!
