is there a chip that goes in the usb port on the ps2?
got a new ps2 and dont want to loss the warrinty

There used to be but they don't work well with DVD-R backups and they still required you to solder one wire. Can you check the SCPH# and see which version it is. If you don't know, you can find it on the box or on the black sticker on the back of the console.

The only option that I know of would be the slide card and swap disc method. I would just go for a good soldered chip though. Yeah, it voids the warranty but provided a professional installer puts it in, then it will save you alot of hassle. Just pop the disc in and play. The standard warranty on the PS2 is only good for 30 days anyways (maybe 90 but I seem to remember 30 when I read the manual).
