just remember it dont matter a **** what ya say over the mike cos no one ever listens to the kj, thats why you always have to call your singers 5 times before they realise that .. yes there name is dave and yes they did put a slip in to sing , they will still act suprised and look at you like you are from mars but hey act like you are and they'll soon pick it up and so will you :)

Great when they act all shy and OHHHHHHHHHHH did i wanna sing, must have been someone else who put my name in usual s*** talk when they eventually rummage their way over to ya and they r really gagging to get up and think they are the new elvis or robbie etc.
Once they get that mic they don't wanna stop.Patience is a must well most of the times.

"Could you put me on now cos my taxi will be here in ten minutes". Mike technique is hit and miss all you have to do is conquer your nerves. I used to drink a few "sidedrums" (bacardi and cider mixer) but now I dont drink at all and only get nervous before I set up, hoping I got all the right leads in the right holes, lol. If you can get a decent singer in the place a free drink to get them up to chant first it's almost always repaid with a flood of other singers. Have a good selection of songs loaded that people always sing, Green green grass of home, new york new york, crazy and so on. Mastermix have 2 discs full of SINGALONG songs play them at the start of the evening and dont forget loads of pens and count your books if they are allowed to go amonst the rabble so you make sure you get them back at the end of the night. A stab proof vest and a small aerosol of mustard gas might come in handy too but only at the Sheltered dwelling gigs. Best of luck and let us know how you go.
