i use that BIGFEX.EXE tool to extract the audio from the MUSIC.BIG file for ssx3...however i now have a .mus file which seems to be the actual music file..and a .mpf which seems to hold some sort of description for the file i assume.

anyways, im wondering how i can get these sound tracks into something more common like mpc or mp3.

any suggestions are VERY welcomed...im not sure what to try :-/

.mpf is a M$ gallery file and .mus is a music time audio file. File Index. (http://www.e-tech.ca/008-FileFormats-m.asp) A program named Muse all in one is a proggie that is supposed to convert the audio for you Download (http://www.tucows.com/preview/234995.html)

if your files are valid then try another program called goldwave Link (http://www.goldwave.com/)

Never done these types of files, just searching through some of the usual spots for your question. HTH

that doesnt work either.

im not sure what the .mpf file is for ...i think that is maybe the key to open the file?? atleast a key in the sense of description of the actual file?

Hi guys,

did anybody figure this out yet? I also tried CubeMediaPlayer and several other converters, but EA seemes to use a different format. I'd really appreciate any help on that, cuz the soundtrack is awesome and exclusive (not available on the OST of that game).

Thx in advance.

Ok, it has been a couple years since anything significant was said about this. Does anyone have *any* clues at all on how to decypher these .mpf/.mus files?

I've spent a silly amount of time with these things, and at this point I'm almost thinking it would be more fruitful to disassemble the game code to figure out how they're played. Alas, a task I'm not up to. :(
