Fat32 has a limit of 4gigs for file sizes, you can either upgrade to NTFS and windows XP. Or keep your Fat32 system and get a program called Recordnow Max that automatically splits the image if it is over 4gigs.

It will be better for you to just re-format for NTFS. This will also help you out with doing movie backups.

Your right the OEM disks are setup to their settings. www.half.com is good for software sometimes.

you could try but some manufacturers stiff you in the end with pre built pcs, just a suggestion as I found xp home for $30 once.
If you have an xp startup disk, place it in your disk drive, adjust your bios settings(when you restart your computer, press del to enter BIOS menu) change the boot order to cdrom first. Boot startup xp disk, it will have an option to convert to NTFS, be warned it will wipe your drive clean. Make sure you have your xp serial number before you start anything.

recordnow max will work fine for you.
There is a way to extract your serial, just haven't done it in awhile. I'm off for the weekend, ask in the open forum and you'll get your answer.
