Just bought a Plextor 708A dvd writer was wondering about which to use + or - what are the pros and cons of each ? I know the plextor is capable or writing the + at 8x.

If anyone can enlighten me on the pros and experiences of each I would appreciate it and your experiences on the brands of disks that perform well.

The way I understand it is that the +R is going to be the standard eventually and they will play in more stand-alone DVD players.

Feel free to correct me if I am wrong.

i would beg to differ with joemamma.my experiences with dvd recordable discs have proved that the minus r and rw are more compatible with eveything from dvd players to games consoles.another plus point for minus r is that they are more affordable and more availiable.

another one for -r.

they're cheaper to buy, which usually means they'll be the ones that last longest.
