hi i play karaoke tracks (mp3) with winamp. i am planning to connect a mic to the pc but i am not sure how can I amplify the voice so it would come out from the speakers with the sound. is there a software that would just do that?

just plug the mic into the line in input on your soundcard,its usually the pink coloured one.

ops. forgot to mention i am using a laptop and when I plug the mic in the 'mic in' port nothing happens. i mean the mic works if i use it with webcam or voice activation software but would not just automatically amplify the voice once it is connected.

you may need to have a look in the sound settings m8.it may be muted.it usually is by default.what operating system u using.

in xp its in accessories\entertainment\volume control.you may have to select it whilst in there by,clicking on options\properties,and look fo the microphone box which will probably be unticked.just put a tick next to it and click ok.then check in the volume control window that there isnt a tick in the mute box under the microphone bit of the volume control panel.it should now work.
