33lurcher Feb 13, 2004, 12:18 PM Hi,
For the last 12 months I"ve been useing a laptop connected to a Pioneer 105 housed in a firewire box with no problems.
Been useing dvd decrypter /dvd2one and then burning in Nero Express at 4 speed useing darawrite yellows.
Recently my laptop died and I purchased a new one, higher spec than before.
I"ve reloaded the above programs (latest ones) and when I"ve tried to burn it fails after a couple of secs . Nero log telling me SCSI/IDECommand Aborted,
Also tried to burn in decrypter iso read/write method and this immediatley fails.
Doing everything same as before but with new machine, any ideas.
Nero Version 5.5.10.54
TIA
thung226 Feb 13, 2004, 08:57 PM I am having the exact same problem. It's driving me nuts. I can burn CDs, but not DVDs with the burner. I have yet to create a successful dvd. All jobs abort in the first minute or two... just enough to start writing the lead in track and ruin the blank DVD, then crap out with the "SCSI command aborted".
I'm using an NEC 1300A with 1.0A firmware. I don't think it's a media thing because it happens around the exact same time with each disk and with different brands/batches of media.

jesterrace777 Feb 14, 2004, 03:07 AM Have you tried different software? (ie DVD Shrink or Recordnow Max)
PhilEnfield Feb 14, 2004, 05:13 AM Seems like quite a few people are getting this error.

Not sure what the problem is, but it seems to be connected mainly to external drives !
33lurcher Feb 14, 2004, 04:32 PM thung226,
Have u had any luck m8 ? I haven"t, the links provided above didn"t relate to XP problems. I"ve uninstalled Nero and tried the latest Version 6 but still same prob and as I said b4 cant burn in decrypter so dont think it the burning software.

Read the link again ..........
Make sure Autoplay is switched off
Make sure there are no AV routines etc. running in the background
Check your ASPI drivers & DMA
etc. .... all this applies to XP as well as W98 etc.
I'm not saying that's the solution, but they are all things worth trying.
33lurcher Feb 16, 2004, 03:34 AM Phil,
Thanks for the effort in helping, bear with me whats the auto play ? and where do I turn it off.
DMA is enabled .
PhilEnfield Feb 16, 2004, 05:42 AM Go to START click on Run and type in gpedit.msc
open User Configuration/Administrative Templates/System and double click "Turn Off Autoplay" click on the Radio Button "Enabled", then click "Apply" and "OK". Then close
This will disable Autoplay on all drives. May need to reboot to take effect.

33lurcher Feb 16, 2004, 07:59 AM Tried above , result Windows cant find it. Any ideas ?.
PhilEnfield Feb 16, 2004, 09:01 AM Hmmmmm. come to think of it, I seem to remember that this may only be available in XP Pro ........ you may need Tweak XP, but bear in mind this may not be the answer, although could be worth trying.
33lurcher Feb 21, 2004, 09:00 AM Finally sorted it , my connections from 105 ( in external firewire bay) to laptop were via a firewire lead that went into an adapter and into a card via the pcmcia socket. This arrangement worked fine on previous laptop running ME.
Bought lead this morn to connect direct from burner (in ex bay) to dedicated firewire socket on new computer.
First 2 burns 100% no probs.
brave_king Mar 07, 2004, 12:05 AM I bought a Bytecc enclosure to use with my NEC 2500A after having no luck with a Belkin USB2 enclosure. The Belkin was working ok with my WD hard drive, but not with my NEC 2500A. Nero kept giving "SCSI command aborted" whenever I tried to burn a DVD. Disappointedly, I went to NewEgg and ordered a Bytecc enclosure with hope that it would deliver a better result. As soon as I received the enclosure, I tried it with my NEC 2500A. And, the burner burned DVD flawlessly with this using Nero. I was so happy. Maybe the built-in ATA6 controller from this enclosure fix the "SCSI command aborted" problem. My PC is a Toshiba Satellite 2435-S255. BTW, I haven't tested this enclosure with the firewire interface yet, but the USB2 worked great.
I hope my story helps :-)
JASONWESTON Mar 07, 2004, 09:58 AM I am having exactly same problem.
I get the same msg as others using nero, i have tried burnatonce and it says disk complete after 43 secs, which obviosly not correct. Wasted 12 disks so far today.
The funny thins is if i rip a layer 5 dvd with dvd decrypter then write with same program i have no problems.
Can some one please advise how i turn dma on using XP.
Also does anyone no of any other program that i can use which uses the same technology as DVD decrypter as no problams. Sorry the problam is dvd decrypter only allows you to write an ISO but i want to burn VOBS.
Any suggestions or can i convert my vobs to iso then use dvd deccypter.
Somebody - the asnwer is out there (just where i dont know )
