One of my relatives was home a few weeks back and he wanted a film on dvd of me so i did one.........He tried it today and the sound was perfect but the picture was rolling ?

Is it because he has a 60hz tv ?

Is there away around it ?

Thanks

Sounds like you gave him a pal version instead of nstc

region code and pal/ntsc are two completely different things.

Pal dvd source is 720x576 with a framerate of 25 fps, Ntsc dvd source is 720x480 with either ~30 or ~24 Fps

To convert pal to ntsc is way more difficult than passing it through dvd decrypter- you have to strip out the video and re-encode with something like CCE or Tmpgenc, and then merge the audio and video back.

A tv that supprots PAL video signals would solve it but in the states these things are expensive. It'll take you about 3 hours using the methods nimbles gave you.

Doubt it, seems to be OK for us in the UK to do this but most DVD/TV combos in the US won't allow it.

Most UK TV's will play PAL or NTSC and most UK DVD players have either the manual or auto option to switch between the two formats also but US stuff is not quite the same from what I can gather, maybe a US member can give us the general rundown of what most of their TV/DVD equipment is capable of. That would be better. ;)

Best option of course is to get them to view it on a PC. :)

Moving this to the DVD forum for you, you will get more answers in there m8.....

Well I live in the US and all 3 of my TV's only support NTSC (even though they are a few years old, so i dunno about newer TV's.) My dvd player on the other hand can convet PAL to NTSC on the fly, so if i just pop in a PAL SVCD (I neva actually had a PAL DVD ;)) it'll play just fine.

I would suggest just converting it.
