Now I am confused.

With the model before I thought Pioneer 106 was the OEM and A06 was the retail.

I have been told that the 107D is a development model (ie like a preproduction run) ??

If so is it risky buying a 107D model ??

I wouldn't think so. If nothing else a firmware flash should fix any problems if you should have them.

if your need for the drive isnt critical then you might want to wait a few weeks. my understanding is that around mid march pioneer is releasing the 107XL a retail product.
