spinna Feb 14, 2004, 10:16 AM ive just got my self a NEC 2500 DVD-RW drive and im having problems with these disks
ARITA RITEK OVERPRINTS
the are burning at 2X speed and they arnt playing properly on my PC , my drive is finding it hard to read these disks.
ive tryed to set the burn speed to 1X speed but they keep burning 2X , it there software that will let me use these disks at 1X ??
ive tryed Recordnow max and DVD Decrypter.
jesterrace777 Feb 14, 2004, 03:45 PM Overprints are generally lower quality than the Genuine Ritek/Ridata discs that come straight from Ritek themselves. For this reason I only trust Riteks that are 1. Unbranded Riteks 2. Ridata 3. Traxdata. Those 3 carry the grade A Ritek dye and are of the highest quality. Anything else is "iffy" with the kind of quality you are getting and I would not be surprised if they carry a B Grade quality dye (on the Aritas) as I have heard more problems about the Arita Riteks than the others I listed above.
Lazza Feb 15, 2004, 03:37 AM Found these discs pretty good myself, AFAIK they are yet another Ritek brand ala Traxdata too so they should be exactly the same. I generally avoid overprints but took a chance on these because of the above and have not yet seen one mark or fingerprint on any disc which ic good.
Here's the lowdown:
Unique Disc Identifier : [DVD-R:RITEKG03]
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

spinna Feb 15, 2004, 04:05 AM maybe its just my burner that doesnt like them?
gratefulme Feb 15, 2004, 04:37 AM If you read other forums it seems like a lot of people are having trouble with Ritek DVDs on the 2500a. Mine burns them great, but it is starting to seem like I am one of the lucky few. Are other disks working in your drive?
spinna Feb 15, 2004, 04:46 AM ive only got Ritek ones, ive got some yellow toped Ritek ones that burn at 2X speed and play back great
PhilEnfield Feb 15, 2004, 05:30 AM May just be you've picked up a bad batch.
spinna Feb 15, 2004, 08:31 AM maybe:sick:
gratefulme Feb 15, 2004, 08:50 AM I belive that overprints are DVDs that have been printed incorectly so they reprint them for whatever reason.
Couldn't this throw off the weight (am I reaching) of the DVD? I know when blockbuster used to put stickers on their DVDs it would cause them to wobble, and sometimes not play. Putting labels on your home DVDs does the same.
It just seems to me like the extra ink from the double printing might do the same thing.
geobon Feb 15, 2004, 09:32 AM As stated earlier theirs lots of posts on various forums regarding ritek G03's & the NEC 2500, and not just overprints, Try giving a few to one of your m8's with a different burner to burn and see if there ok, That will tell you if its the dvdr's themselves or if its a compatibility issue.

A very good point that! ;)
I have noticed with the Arita Ritek overprints that they do seem a lot heavier than a normal disc, even for a overprint.
