If the pc sounds like its booting up and hard drives spin but nothing on screen, then maybe a faulty monitor or graphics card?

If cpu, ram or mobo are faulty, you usually get a long beep. Although I would have thought that if the gfx card were faulty it would do this too. I know it sounds stupid, but have you checked the monitor? Does it remain in standby mode?

Id also be a bit concerned about not hearing that familiar beep.... Can you give any more info? Has it ever worked, or is this a brand new build? Im not convinced that just cos the hdd's spin up, means any info is being fed to them.

Double everything is connected corretly. If nothing appears on screen it could be the monitor, gfx card or motherboard.

amd 2.4ghz? which cpu is that or did you clock it?

The same happend to me when i built a computer some how i put the cpu fan on and it dident completly cover the cpu and it burnt out. Try taking the cpu out and smelling it maybe look at the pins side and see if u can see any burnt bits in the middle. It might be that :/.

If your not getting any system beeps whatsoever it may be the power supply or even the motherboard itself that is faulty.

have you checked that the bios is not set to clear.
have you made sure the memory is seated right along with any cards and the cpu.

i had a similar prob a while ago with a pc chips board, it turned out to be the bios pins were set to clear on the m/b, look in your manual
