Hi . Bought a new laptop which did play DVD's a month ago but went to install a program off a cover DVD this morning and it wouldn't recongised the disk and kept on asking me to insert disk. Tried the same DVD I tried out a month ago when I bought the laptop and it won't recognise that either. Have spent a month setting the laptop up for use and so don't want to have to send it back . Have looked at previous thread which said to unplug and plug drive back in but can't do this as it's a laptop. Have uninstalled and re-installed drivers and this hasn't helped.

Can anyone help?

what kind of laptop is this a PC or a mac, what operating system? did you try to use Restore, should do the trick if its a PC with XP.

Will check DMA mode now...
It is PC running XP.... will look at Restore also....

Let you know if either works...

Thanks

have checked DMA and can't find way of configuring it in XP

Have also done system restore back to the earliest possible date and it's said "no changes were made to your computer"...

Any other ideas would be appreciated

Thanks
