I have just built a new pc for my sister in law heres the spec
Installed with xp corporate inc service pack 1

Athlon XP2400 with compatable hs & fan
Sapphire IGP320 Mobo with onboard Radeon 7000 GFX & sound
256mb PC2100 DDR Ram
120gig Western Digital Hard Drive
Intel 56k V92 modem
standard floppy drive
54x cdrom
52x cdrw
350watt psu
2 case fans

The problem is that the display flickers at random intervals. Its ok for ages then it just flickers like someone has quickly turned the monitor off & on.
I brought it back to mine & tried on my monitor & it seemed fine, which makes me think her monitor is a bit iffy, but she assures me her old pc ran fine on it. The monitor is an old 14inch one, about 4-5 years old.
Any ideas???

maybe the refresh rate on the graphic card is to much for the old monitor? Not to sure just a guess never had this problem with any of my computers.

as a possibility it could be someone remote controlling onto the PC, the display will flicker for a second when the remote connects. id check for spyware and run a virus scan while its back at yours.

You need to try another monitor on the PC.

And a 14" on that setup?! DAMN!

The monitor is probably on the way out

:)

That's the last time I sign up for SETI@home!

As Memphis said, you can't expect to use a 14" monitor on a current graphics card.

Lucky it didn't just blow up.
