if YOU can't tell a difference, then it doesn't make one :)

On most 100hz tvs you will loose some detail in the picture quality compared to a 50/60hz set,try turning the set to 50 if it allows and compare

Because it's refreshing faster than the image is being drawn. You need a source capable of 100hz to use it to it's potential.

The idea behind a 100Hz TV is reduce/eliminate the flicker associated with televisions.

On a PAL 50Hz TV, the flicker is usually more noticeable when you give the screen a glance from the side of your eyes.

A PAL tv works by displaying 25 picture frames a second - these are displayed as lines going from the top to the bottom of your screen. 2 passes are made every second, the first pass drawing the even lines (0 2 4 6 8 etc) and the second the odd lines (1 3 5 7 etc) which results in 50 scans every second - 50Hz.

By doubling the process (scanning 4 times a second) you get 100Hz. To do this the image is stored digitally and displayed from this 'memory'. The digital image devices are obviously not broadcast quality so the actual picture clarity suffers at 100Hz but the flicker is virtually eliminated - it's a trade off.

Anything that has already been digitally processed (like Digital broadcasts or DVD's) will usually not display well using 100Hz - it's similar to compressing something twice - you don't usually get good results so 100Hz TV's work best with analogue signals.

But remember - 100Hz TV's reduce the flicker but also reduce the clarity so unless you are viewing an analogue signal then my advice is to turn 100 Hz processing off.

i have a 36in toshiba tv wiv 100hz scan mode, if i turn it on when using sky digital or when watching a dvd the picture jumps up and down really bad. i just keep my 100hz turned of all the time cause u cant really notice the difference anyway. dont think 100hz works with light gun either.
